In 2015? I almost died. As in the hospital called my son and said I was on a ventilator, and when he asked? They would only say "we are doing what we can".
Costa Rica seemed to have a mystique to it. I had never been. That I was willing to pack up my life, rent a place off of TripAdvisor, and move to a country where I didn't speak the language? I just viewed it as an adventure.
When thinking of writing? I thought of Hemingway and the Florida Keys...I didn't and don't have the cash for that. Plus? I know what to do in an Earthquake. A hurricane? I'm clueless.
Plus? Why have a passport and not use it?
Costa Rica has not disappointed me. It is an amazing country. Beautiful land, and the kindest people I have ever met. It took me awhile to understand that they do things for people because they truly enjoy doing for others. Having most recently lived in Los Angeles for almost ten years? It was hard to accept at first. Now? It is the quality I hope I carry with me for the rest of my life.
When they say "Pure Vida"? It is.
This is where I say... wow, I wish I had started this project of recording my journey six months ago!
